This World

Posted on March 29, 2016November 28, 2019 by Journey Waters

The bow of the kayak cuts through water, barely making a ripple
Reeds brush up against me, as my boat glides by
I drift over a large snapper,  she looks up in curiosity
Baby Turtles scurry off the shore, startled by my presence
Breaking the tranquil water, they now swim under me
I reach down in, my fingers grasps ones shell
Lifting him up, I introduce myself, we are strangers no more
I thank him for his hospitality,  then return him to his waters
A Norther Pike now approaches, and then hovers below
This world will soon be hidden behind these growing reeds
and others will never know, the beauty that I see
