Wonder of Wander

 

Hi,
My name is Larry Jensen, the person behind Wonder of Wander. I began exploring the USA by bicycle back in the early 1990’s taking some long road trips and wondering how far I could go. The furthest I got was a 4 state multi day ride. Then in 1999 I took off on a cross country motorcycle trip going Coast to Coast to Coast. I continued traveling by motorcycle, eventually visiting 39 states before trading in the motorcycle for a 1978 VW bus where I completed the remaining 9 lower states in. I’ve also flown to Alaska and Hawaii. I visited fifty states before I was fifty!

When I began the VW Bus tour, I started a blog called Life with Larry and it documented my travels in Sandy the Bus (a 1978 VW Westfalia Bus) with my co-pilot and soulmate Lexie, by my side. Lexie was a Yorkshire Terrier and we traveled on both the motorcycle and VW Bus together. She visited 30 states with me by motorcycle and 21 in the VW Bus.

In 2013, I sold my Real Estate Brokerage, Property Management Business and Handyman company. I sold my last business, a Motorcycle Parts manufacturing company in 2016.

Also in 2016, after losing Lexie to cancer, I took off on a kayak trip from the Canadian border headed for Key West. After two months on the water, I ended the trip at the mouth of the Delaware river and Atlantic Ocean.

Today, I continue to live a life less ordinary and my travels, by bicycle, train and recently, a Ford Transit van I call Savanna, are propelled through House and Pet sitting gigs as well as providing handyman services for special friends and clients. I’ve pet sat for cats, dogs, guinea pigs and even a Monarch butterfly from coast to coast.
