Bundled up for a day of outdoor play – snow shoeing to be exact
Helping raise money for charity – breast cancer was todays mark
Who could have imagined that we need help –
the devil was at your door
Once a small bump now ten times in size –
oozing with blood and fear
The operation went well – though more was found
Another operation – in another town
Treatment would be expensive – prognosis profound
Doctor said Three months – less if we do nothing
Chemo, Radiation and Drugs – there were plenty
Meds at 7 9 11 and 3 – more at 5 9 and 11
One Med made you nauseous – another made you hungry
The schedule was tough – you were tougher
What is life – if no longer fun
I bought you another bike – we set out to find adventure again
We rode like the old days – though this time it was different
Life takes on new meaning – when the clock is ticking
Three months turned to Six – then 7 8 and 9
You fought a good fight – all six pounds of you
We loved every moment – loved every sunrise
We never stopped living – you nor I
Ten months arrived – we were out of time
Your liver was failing – Chemo no longer an option
We said good bye – that Christmas Eve
Now you’ll live on forever – For as long as I breathe

In memory of Lexie, my amazing little Yorkie that traveled this amazing country with me by motorcycle, kayak, bicycle and boat.
Your ashes now part of me, we shall be…Forever Together.
